January 18th will always be a remarkable day for the world. Cos on that day, Americans and indeed the rest of the world celebrates MLK day. Even though Martin Luther King (Jnr.) lived many many years ago, his legacy can’t and will never be forgotten.
I believe one of the major reasons for this worldwide celebration is because he dared to dream. He wasn’t afraid of ‘labels’. He wasn’t afraid of stepping out and following his heart. From all we’ve read about him, I’m sure you’d agree with me that he was sure not a people-pleaser. But definitely a God-pleaser.
I honestly think it’s easy to follow your heart when your desires are very conventional; like when what you want to do is what the society accepts and encourages. But when you’re treading a less travelled road, then you need guts. And most importantly you need God.
An example is when I realized how passionate I was about inspirational blogging. For a long time, I’d only publish occasionally. Why? Because it wasn’t popular. Because the conventional was lifestyle blogging and I thought something was wrong with me for not wanting the popular stuff .
I struggled with this for years until I finally decided that “enough is enough”. I’m not passionate about fashion blogging. But I sure am VERY passionate about inspirational blogging. And that,I’ll pursue with God on my side.
And I’m not going to expect everyone to support it. I’m going to be realistic. I have all the support I need – God’s and my loved ones. If no one else reads my posts, I’ll write for me and my loved ones.LOL.
I just had to set the record straight in my mind, like there’s no going back.
So, what do you have in your heart? What are you excited about doing? Are you holding back because you’re afraid of labels? Well, truth is, whether you step out or not, people would still judge you. So, you might as well step out anyway .
