Ireti is my friend and one time roommate in Fagunwa Hall, UNILAG ( hopefully, I’d write about how we used to share spaghetti soon 😂). Please read her story below 😊.
2010, I got a decent job, my brother graduated and travelled to Canada for greener pastures and things gradually began to look up. I became the sole bread winner of my family and I tried my best to make sure my mom and siblings got the best 👏.
2011, I started having headaches every day at work. I began to overdose on Paracetamol, Panadol and any other pain killers you can
think of 😒.
Initially I thought it was because of the air conditioners surrounding me but it became worse. One day I confided in a friend who was a doctor and he advised me to go to the General hospital for checkup.
November 9th 2011, I was diagnosed with brain tumor 😩. I didn’t tell my mum initially because I feared it would kill her. I confided in my boss and she immediately swung into action. She informed the MD of my company and I was transferred to a better private hospital for more intensive treatment.
I met with consultants, neurosurgeons and endocrinologists and at the same time I was trusting God for healing. As soon as I confirmed the tumor wasn’t cancerous, I informed my mom.
She was devastated and cried to God day and night. I was placed on intensive treatments to aggressively shrink the tumor.
Countless MRIs, increased dosages, vigils, fasting and prayers, failed relationship, suicidal thoughts, near death situations, hair loss, weight loss was all I endured in the three years I battled for my life. In all of this, I knew I would not die, I knew God had a purpose and my faith sprang up 🙌.
Surprisingly during a routine MRI check in 2014, the tumor was confirmed to have vanished. ALAS! I was free…💃🏻
